On Saturday April 20, 2019 The Inn at Salem County Club organized an Earth Day Event where volunteers helped clean up a stretch on Oakwood Beach. A group of 26 volunteers braved the gloomy forecast and were able to clean the whole beach within 2 hours! Among the participants were Miss South Jersey, Ashley Murphy and Miss South Jersey’s Outstanding Teen, Gabriela Collins. Volunteers spilt up into 5 teams and removed about 900 pounds of trash! The trash was collected utilizing both public access points and some private access points to collect trash for removal. We would like to extend a big thanks to the following people for allowing us to cross their properties: Allan Campbell, Renee Beck, Thom O’Dowd, Ron Magill, Mr. Bob and Joe McAllister. All participants got a free t-shirt, courtesy of the Inn. Supplies were provided by the Salem County Improvement Authority, Elsinboro Township Clean Community Coordinator, Java Dog and The Inn. We would like to thank all of our volunteers, including our youngest participants Elena (4 years old) and Brody (11 years old). We are excited to host this event again next year!
